Senior Security Here in Texas

May 20th, 2011 by admin

Keeping your loved ones safe is difficult, especially if they live here in Texas and you live far away. Since many of the millions affected by hearing loss are senior citizens, here are a few useful tips to help keep your mature parents or friends secure while you’re not around:
Be aware of Texas weather – Weather here in Texas can be unpredictable, so make sure your loved ones have homes that are fortified for snow, floods or even fire. Contact electric companies in texas to find out who to call if there’s a power outage and be sure you know the number for authorities in your loved one’s area.
Get Security – Home security systems are never a bad idea, particularly for senior citizens who may live at home. In addition to being vulnerable, often seniors can’t fend off attackers or burglars so a home security system is a great way to allow them to feel safe.
Check in Often – The biggest challenge for maintaining a feeling of security when you’re far away from seniors is the distance, so devise a system for checking in. This can be a daily call or a weekly email but be sure you’re the first line of contact for an otherwise disconnected senior.
